In 1938, Tony & Frances Trobec purchased a school bus so St. Stephen-area students could bus to Holdingford Schools to continue their education beyond the 8th grade. The fledgling bus company continued with just one vehicle until an additional bus was purchased for student transportation to Cathedral High School in St. Cloud.
In 1956, the Trobecs expanded their school bus business further, obtaining a bid to transport students from the St. Joseph and Collegeville area to St. Cloud District 742. Today, Trobec’s continues to be the area’s premier school bus business, proudly serving the St. Cloud and Sartell School Districts.
The Trobecs incorporated motor coach services into their business in 1963 and received interstate authority in 1981. Today, Trobec’s motor coaches drive to 49 states, including Alaska, plus Canada.
In 1982, Tony and Frances' three children — Tom Trobec, Betty Trobec, and Emily Gohman — took over the business, with Tom and Betty leading day-to-day operations alongside an exceptional staff of office personnel, mechanics, and drivers. Tony Trobec passed away in August of 2004, and Frances in November of 2009. Tom Trobec retired in 2006, and Betty remained an integral part of the business until her death in 2016.
Tim Schubert started with Trobec's Bus Service in 1985 as a driver and mechanic and worked his way through the many facets of the business, eventually leading the company as CEO.
Bethany (Schubert) Bertram began with the company in 2009 as a bus detailer in the wash bay, obtaining her school bus license shortly after her employment began. Since then, she has held nearly every position in the company, which has led her to her current role as CEO.
Becca (Schubert) Atkinson joined Trobec's Bus Service in 2016 as a Dispatcher and has since stepped into the role of President, where she oversees many of the day-to-day operations as well as our entire sales department.
You will often find Bethany and Becca behind the wheel of a bus when needed. They are proud to work alongside their drivers and assistants, and are looked up to by their team as exemplary leaders. In 2025, Bethany and Becca purchased the business from their father, and now lead our team of 150 employees as Co-Owners together.
